Terms of Service

1. Acceptance
By creating an account or using What2Eat you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
2. The service
What2Eat uses artificial intelligence to detect ingredients from your photos or voice, generate recipe suggestions, nutrition estimates, meal plans and dish images. AI output can be inaccurate — always use your own judgment when cooking.
3. Food safety disclaimer
Recipes, shelf-life estimates and nutrition values are AI-generated ESTIMATES provided for convenience only. They are not medical, dietary or food-safety advice. Always verify ingredient freshness, cook food to safe temperatures, and consult a professional for allergies or medical dietary needs.
4. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. You must be at least 13 years old to use What2Eat.
5. Fair use
Free accounts include a daily allowance of AI scans (currently 2 per day, resetting each day); one-time bonus scans may be earned through referrals. Automated, abusive or fraudulent use (including referral abuse) may result in account suspension.
6. Sage Pro subscription
Sage Pro is an optional subscription ($2.99/month) that unlocks unlimited scans, weekly meal planning and premium Sage features. Payment is processed securely by Stripe through a web checkout — we never see or store your card details. Pricing is always shown before purchase and you can cancel anytime; access continues until the end of the paid period.
7. Anonymized data & insights
To keep What2Eat free, we may aggregate fully anonymized usage data — such as popular ingredients, grocery trends and recipe preferences — into statistical insights that may be shared with or licensed to partners (for example food brands and grocery retailers). These insights NEVER include your name, email, photos or anything that can identify you. You can opt out at any time in Profile → Data & Insights, and your activity will be excluded from all aggregations.
8. Your content
You keep ownership of photos, recipes, captions and videos you create. You grant What2Eat a worldwide, royalty-free license to host, process and display your content in the app, and — for content you publish publicly to the Community — to feature it, with credit to your username, inside the app and on What2Eat's official channels (such as our social media pages). Private content is never shared or featured. Deleting your content or account ends this license for future use.
9. Community conduct & zero tolerance
By posting to the Community you agree to our Community Guidelines (Profile → Community Guidelines). There is ZERO TOLERANCE for objectionable content or abusive behavior: hateful, sexually explicit, violent, dangerous, illegal or spam content is removed and offending accounts are suspended or banned. Every post can be reported in-app; reports are reviewed within 24 hours. You can also block any user to immediately stop seeing their content.
10. Third-party links
Shopping buttons open third-party retailers. We are not responsible for their content, pricing or policies. Links may include affiliate references that support the app at no extra cost to you.
11. Creator storefronts (physical goods)
Creators may sell their own physical products through the What2Eat Shop. Sellers are independent merchants — payments are processed by Stripe directly to the seller's connected account, and What2Eat charges a platform fee on each sale (shown before listing). The SELLER is solely responsible for product quality, safety, accurate descriptions, legal compliance (including food-product regulations), shipping and returns. What2Eat is not the merchant of record and does not take custody of goods. Buyers: your shipping details are shared with the seller solely to fulfill your order. Payment disputes are handled through Stripe's dispute process.
12. Brand deals & sponsored content
Brands may book creators for sponsored videos through the Creator Marketplace. Payment is collected up front; the creator keeps the listed share and What2Eat retains a marketplace fee. Sponsored submissions are held for BRAND REVIEW before publishing: the brand may approve the video or request ONE round of changes. If the brand does not respond within 7 days of a submission, the video is approved and published automatically. Approved sponsored posts are labeled 'Paid partnership' in accordance with FTC endorsement guidelines. If a creator declines or fails to deliver, the brand's payment is refunded. Brands receive no ownership of the creator's content beyond the right to have it displayed in-app with their brand tag.
13. Termination
You may delete your account at any time from the Profile screen, which permanently removes your data. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms.
14. Changes
We may update these terms; material changes will be communicated in-app. Continued use after changes means acceptance. Contact: support@what2eat.app.
